Bureau Recognized for Community Partnership

(BOP) - The Department of the Army recently honored the Federal Bureau of Prisons (Bureau) and the Parks Reserve Forces Training Area (PRFTA) with one of seven 2018 Army Community Partnership Awards. The Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, received the award along with PRFTA for their collaborative efforts and partnership in building and maintaining strong community relationships and enhancing military readiness.

The Army Community Partnership Award recognizes examples of exceptional cooperation and diligence that encourages continued collaboration to achieve the full potential of community partnerships. The awardees represent partnerships that have improved readiness, driven modernization and contributed to reform initiatives throughout the Army. FCI Dublin provides federal inmate labor for PRFTA public works projects, with a significant cost saving to the military and valuable job skills training for the inmate workers.

Wiley Z. Jenkins II (FCI Dublin Warden) and Lt. Col. Jennifer Nolan (Garrision Commander) accepted the award on behalf of the Bureau and PRFTA, respectively, at the Army Community Partnership Recognition Ceremony on December 4, 2018, in the Hall of Heroes at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
